Our definition of service...

AST provide our clients with a specific maintenance regime to ensure the performance of the product is meets the optimum performance required of it and that all legislative obligations are met. Should any equipment malfunction, the service we offer provides a quick and efficient call-out to provide an effective repair process.

Advanced Smoke Technology is part of the Advanced Smoke Group, the UK's leading manufacturer and installer of both above and below ground smoke control systems. Based outside Leicester, the company is placed centrally to respond to call outs from any part of the UK. Specialist fitters, both mechanical and electrical, provide preventative maintenance to buildings in both the residential and commercial sectors.

These include:

• Smoke control systems
• Above ground, natural and powered systems
• Below ground, car park, service yard systems
• Ductwork systems

Advanced Smoke Technology provides maintenance services for the above systems irrespective of the manufacturer.

Why is preventative maintenance offered?

Irrespective of how well the smoke ventilation system has been designed, constructed, installed and commissioned, the possibility of failure cannot be ignored.

Planned preventative maintenance can extend the life of a smoke control system and reduce the possibility of failure. In addition, the continuing support by AST to a smoke control system allows updates in line with the latest technology or standards.

As a requirement of the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, life safety equipment such as smoke control systems has to be maintained in an efficient state, in efficient working order and in good repair. It is the building operator or owner's legal responsibility to maintain the system and the Department of Communities and Local Government guide to these regulations suggest that "The smoke control system should be maintained by a competent person who is familiar with the fire engineering performance specifications of that specific system."

Advanced Smoke Technology can advise you on the scope of these Regulations.

The regulations do not specify a maximum time interval for maintenance, but BS5588-12 recommends a minimum annual maintenance of smoke control systems.

What Services Are Offered?

Advanced Smoke Technology offers a range of services that meet the requirements of your system.

Planned preventative maintenance

We carry out service visits to ensure that the smoke control systems are maintained in optimum running order. Our customers, with a maintenance contract, have access to an emergency helpdesk that provides an out of hours call out facility.

System check

Around nine months, following commissioning and handover of a project, arrangements will be made to visit the installation to confirm that the system is performing as designed. As this visit falls within the warranty period, any faulty components are replaced free of charge. A test certificate will be issued. In addition this will allow for any further training of local personnel that may be required.

A test certificate will be issued for the Smoke Control Systems to confirm its operation will be issued.

Service delivery

With a wealth of experience on smoke control systems (which is all we provide) we have the expertise in house to rapidly identify faults and provide solutions. Advanced Smoke Technology understands the importance of providing a rapid responsive to deliver the level of service required by our customers.

Once a problem has been reported to us, our aim is to provide an immediate telephone response to try and identify the cause (both Advanced Smoke Technology's own and other manufacturers' products) and offer a solution. If this isn't possible we aim to be on-site within 24 hours for service contract holders.

The Company - Advanced Smoke Technology Service operates to ISO 9001:2000 and all employees are CSCS card holders.
